Devil May Cry HD Collection Slashes its Way to Current-Gen and PC Next Year

In recent weeks, the internet has run rampant with rumors about Devil May Cry 5. I held off on reporting this story since I found the evidence flimsy at best. Just as things began to settle down, Capcom added more fuel to the fire. Today, the Japanese developer announced Devil May Cry HD Collection for current-gen systems and PC. Is this reveal a precursor to an official Devil May Cry 5 announcement?

Let’s talk about today’s announcement first. If you recall, Devil May Cry HD Collection was released for PS3 and Xbox 360 last gen. That collection featured remastered versions of the original PS2 games. In essence, this latest collection is a remaster of a remaster. Capcom didn’t reveal many details on improvements. All we know is each game will run at 60 frames-per-second. Presumably, they will feature 4K support since that seems to be the hot thing with gamers these days.

So, how does this all tie to Devil May Cry 5? If the fifth installment is indeed real, releasing an HD collection for current-gen systems and PC makes sense. Currently, only Devil May Cry 4 and DmC: Devil May Cry are available to PS4, Xbox One, and PC owners. This collection can tide folks over until Devil May Cry 5 is released, or at least revealed. On the other hand, this could simply be yet another remastered collection from Capcom. It may have nothing to do with Devil May Cry 5 at all. Perhaps we’ll get an announcement during tonight’s Game Awards or this weekend’s PlayStation Experience event. Whatever the cause, I’d like to ask my fellow gamers to hold their horses until an official announcement is made.

Expect the Devil May Cry HD Collection to land on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on March 13, 2018. If you’ve never played a Devil May Cry game, this collection is worth a try; especially since it’ll only set you back $30.
