Things To Know
–After his takeout slide injured Tejada, Utley was suspended two games by the MLB, however he is appealing and should be available Monday night. Wilmer Flores is playing shortstop and batting seventh for the Mets in Tejada’s absence, while Matt Reynolds took the incumbent shortstop’s roster spot and could make his MLB debut.
–Harvey was the subject of controversy with his innings limit, but he could cause some new drama if he retaliates in his playoff debut. He’ll be countered by Anderson, who makes just the second postseason start of his career.
–In Game 2, Adrian Gonzalez drove in two runs to give him three RBIs through the series’ first two games. Ex-Met Justin Turner also drove in a key run and will return to Citi Field Monday. For the Mets, Yoenis Cespedes hit his first playoff homer as a member of the team, while Michael Conforto went deep in his first-career postseason at-bat. The Mets have opted to put Juan Lagares in center field for Game 3, pushing Cespedes to left field and Conforto to the bench.
