The actor’s latest red carpet fit can be recreated with a little effort, but will have lots of payoff Monday – Friday.
Oscar Isaac can eat Flamin’ Hot Cheetos without getting his fingers dirty and shoot multiple movies (and earn multiple paychecks) simultaneously, but the actor’s resourcefulness doesn’t stop there. In his wardrobe, the guy is a fountain of respectable, repeatable outfits thanks to the fact that he leans heavily on monochromatic shades of blue and gray. The palette matches his hair, and brings out his eyes, and makes him look more sophisticated than anyone in the room. When we shot Isaac for the cover of GQ in 2016 we dressed him in just these colors for just this reason.
Last night, at the premiere of Annihilation, Isaac used the monochromatic move yet again wearing a navy windowpane check suit with a blue-grey shirt, tie, and shoes. The outfit had zero shock value but was uncomplicated and exceptionally elegant. It had just the right mixture of tones and textures—key to nailing the monochromatic thing—and fit him like a glove. This is how it’s done.
To approximate Oscar Isaac’s style for your own professional endeavors, follow his move down to the red tipped pocket square. Or take the formality down a notch with a denim dress shirt and suede oxfords, sans silk accessories. Either way, you’ll look GQ-level great without having to try very hard, which, let’s face it, is what we’re all after in life. That and eating Cheetos without staining our fingers and making twice as much money without working for twice as many hours. Here, the outfit to get you started.
