If you don’t know the name Daisy Ridley yet, just wait, oh, three weeks. The British actress is poised to become the breakout star of the newest Star Wars installment (a.k.a. the J.J. Abrams-helmed Star Wars: The Force Awakens) thanks to her role as scavenger Rey. The promotional swirl surrounding a mega release like this means miles of red carpet to walk, and guys—we can hardly wait. The starlet is working with celeb stylist Elizabeth Stewart, a pro who counts best-dressed list mainstays Cate Blanchett and Jessica Chastain as clients; as such, we can expect elegant, sophisticated gowns that portray classic Hollywood glamour. Yes, please.
While we wait for the Star Wars wagon to start churning, let’s take a look back at how Ridley’s kicked off her red carpet career so far.
For a Disney event at the end of summer, the actress picked a pale, icy blue dress that she finished with embellished white stilettos. The pretty pick also warranted her very first Instagram post (a sure sign that she’s a fashion fan?).
She wore a rich metallic blue Carven frock for her Comic-Con appearance in San Diego this July.
The actress kicked off her summer by attending an “Icons of Style” dinner in London, hosted by Michael Kors and Vanity Fair. For the super-chic occasion she went with a bold, grassy green sheath and metallic silver sandals, both by Michael Kors.
Proving she can step out of the cocktail frock box, Ridley picked a black knee-length jumpsuit and electric blue heels while taking the stage for a Japanese press conference in the spring.
One of the few off-duty style shots we have so far shows that the 23-year-old has a laid-back style similar to much of what you’d see walking down any New York City or London street. She paired a black crewneck sweater with washed-out jeans and, yup, Star Wars sneakers!
In the same way that we can already tell we’re going to love Ridley’s style, we have a feeling we’ll be pretty enamored with her character’s I-can-handle-anything feminist attitude. No big deal or anything, but she just occupied the pilot’s seat of a little old thing called the Millennium Falcon in one of the newest trailers. Major.
We’ve got another U.K. new style crush for you too! Meet Lady Kitty Spencer, Princess Diana’s niece with seriously classic style.
